Contemporary historian

Currently resident in Birmingham, after a sojourn in York, Josh Allen’s work spans arts and current affairs journalism, fiction and contemporary and urban history. Seeing a strong affinity between long form journalism, history and fiction writing, he especially enjoys finding excuses to muddy the water and blur the lines between those different kinds of writing.

A compulsive writer and editor, Josh’s work can also be found scattered across an array of curatorial, marketing and ¬†instructional copywriting commissions.

Away from his Chromebook Josh works at the University of Birmingham. He is also studying for an MA in Modern British Studies at the University of Birmingham’s Centre for Modern British Studies.

He is the Past&Present Society’s Social Media and Online Engagement Editorial Assistant.
